Stories, Poems & Tributes

Whether you've been struggling with addiction for years and are just now finding the courage to start your recovery, if you've been clean and sober and fighting to stay that way, if you're a family member or friend who's watching a loved one struggle, or if you've lost someone to the monster of addiction or depression, even if you’ve lost everything, and found a way to start over and rebuild your life from scratch…your story matters!  By sharing your story, poem, or tribute, you can contribute to the recovery and motivation of another. Your journey can become a powerful tool for someone who's struggling to find their way.

You are stronger than you know!

You are tougher than you know!

You are a Warrior!

Behind every addiction is a heartbreaking story. Behind every story is a real person who had hopes and dreams that were shattered when their “Just Once” or “I can handle it” became a monster they could no longer control.

Too often, stories of drug, alcohol, and behavioral addictions are reduced to brief, anonymous news segments, judgments, and stigmatisms that miss the complex and painful human experiences behind them.

We’re inviting all Warriors to share their journey of addiction and recovery. Whether it’s through a story, a poem, or a tribute to a loved one lost, we can’t begin to tell you how much sharing your struggles, your victories, and even your losses, could positively impact someone else’s life. Your story could be the inspiration for someone who wants or needs to start their own recovery journey but is afraid or doesn’t know where to start.

We believe every story matters.

    A Message from Granny Spuggz

We know that sharing your story isn't easy, especially when it's filled with pain and sorrow.  We also know that your story represents what you had to overcome to be the person you are today. We understand that your story doesn't just tell the "juicy" details of the bad things that have happened to you, your story is also a statement of your courage and refusal to give up.

If you are someone who has decided to share their story, we commend you, we thank you, and we are so honored to have you here.
